Make a Real Difference – SEN Teaching Assistant in Edgbaston / Harborne
Schools in Edgbaston and Harborne, Birmingham are seeking compassionate, patient, and motivated Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistants (SEN TAs) to support pupils with a variety of learning, communication, and emotional needs.
SEN TAs play a vital role in helping children reach their full potential. You will provide 1:1 or small group support , assist teachers in adapting lessons, and help pupils gain independence, confidence, and social skills. This is a highly rewarding role, where your support can have a direct impact on a child’s education and wellbeing.

Your Role as an SEN TA
Providing 1:1 or small group support for pupils with SEN
Supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH, or other learning difficulties
Supporting pupils in developing social, emotional, and communication skills
Observing, recording, and reporting pupil progress to teachers and SENCOs
Assisting pupils during transitions between activities or classrooms
Assisting pupils with personal care where necessary
You will be a calm, consistent, and encouraging presence, helping pupils navigate both academic and social challenges while fostering confidence and independence.

Able to build strong relationships with pupils and staff
Experience in SEN or teaching assistance is advantageous but not essential. Care work, youth work, or community roles
Early years or nursery experience
Education, psychology, or child development studies
Parenting or personal experience supporting children with SEN
Full training and mentoring will be provided to help you develop your skills and confidence in the role.
