We are currently working with a growing and well-established privately owned business in Edinburgh that is looking to add a Part-Qualified Management Accountant to its finance team.

This is a great opportunity for an ambitious finance professional who is looking to take the next step in their career and gain broader exposure across management accounts, month-end, budgeting, forecasting and commercial finance .

You'll work closely with the Senior Finance Manager and have genuine ownership of your responsibilities, alongside the opportunity to support and develop a more junior member of the team.

The role

• Preparing monthly management accounts and supporting schedules across multiple entities.
• Taking ownership of the month-end process, including accruals, prepayments, journals and depreciation .
• Completing balance sheet and intercompany reconciliations , investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Supporting cash-flow forecasting, budgeting and financial forecasting .
• Analysing actual performance against budget and providing clear variance analysis and commentary .
• Supporting VAT returns, statutory accounts and audit requirements .
• Working closely with senior stakeholders to provide accurate financial information and commercial insight.
• Reviewing and supporting the work of an Assistant Accountant, helping to maintain strong financial controls.
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes, reporting and automation across the finance function.
• Supporting wider finance projects, financial analysis and ad-hoc commercial reporting.

About you

We're looking for someone who is Part-Qualified or actively studying towards ACCA, CIMA or ACA and is ready to progress into a broader Management Accountant position.

Ideally, you will have:

• 2-4+ years' relevant finance experience , with strong management accounting exposure.
• Experience preparing management accounts and supporting schedules .
• Good understanding of month-end, reconciliations, accruals and prepayments .
• Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and variance analysis .
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with finance systems.
• Good understanding of UK accounting principles and VAT.
• Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage your own workload.
• Strong communication skills and confidence working with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• A proactive approach, with an interest in process improvement and automation .
• Ideally, some experience supporting or reviewing more junior members of a finance team.
