Care at Home Manager

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Registered Care at Home Manager to lead, develop and grow our Care at Home service. This is an exciting opportunity to join a progressive healthcare organisation and play a key role in delivering high-quality, person-centred care while ensuring regulatory excellence and sustainable service growth.

SNMS, Care at Home:

Here at SNMS, we have adult and child Care at Home Clients requiring complex or palliative care from their own home. We provide nurses or carers for a minimum of 4-hour sessions allowing more focus, flexibility and choice in care provision. The aim of providing care at home is to provide assistance in maintaining an independent lifestyle for older or disabled people, those who have long-term or terminal illness or who have learning difficulties or mental illness. We provide specialist training for our staff to meet an individual’s unique requirements.

The role involves overseeing the provision of Care at Home provided by our Nurses and Care staff to our Service Users and to grow and develop this division of the business. This role includes but is not limited to carrying out Care at Home Assessments, creating appropriate Care Plans, overseeing the implementation of the said Care Plans, and overseeing the co-ordination of Care to ensure that the Care at Home Service Users always receive the best possible care. Maintaining current and developing new relationships with clients and staff to grow this division of the business.

The successful candidate will lead a growing Care at Home service supporting individuals with complex, palliative and personal care needs across Greater Glasgow. The role will work closely with Directors, Nursing Coordinators, Registered Nurses and Care Staff to oversee the delivery of high-quality person-centerd care and support the continued development of the service.

Key Responsibilities

Service Leadership & Management

  • Act as the Registered Manager for the Care at Home Service, reporting directly to the Directors and providing management and leadership to Coordinators, Care Supervisors and Care Staff.
  • Ensure the service operates in full compliance with Care Inspectorate standards and conditions of registration.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership and management of the service, ensuring safe and effective care delivery.
  • Promote a culture of dignity, respect, and person-centerd care.

Clinical Oversight & Governance

  • Provide clinical leadership and oversight for all care packages. Clinical support is available from the Company's Nursing Management Team for complex nursing packages.
  • Ensure care plans are robust, up-to-date, and reflective of individual needs and risks.
  • Monitor clinical practice, ensuring care is delivered safely and in line with best practice.
  • Lead on incident management, investigations, and safeguarding concerns.
  • Ensure appropriate medication management systems are in place and followed.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Outcomes

The Registered Care at Home Manager will be responsible for delivering and maintaining high standards of service performance, measured through:

  • Achievement of positive Care Inspectorate inspection outcomes and grades.
  • High levels of service user and family satisfaction.
  • Strong staff retention, engagement, and wellbeing.
  • Compliance with all regulatory, contractual, and organisational requirements.
  • Achievement of mandatory training, supervision, and competency compliance targets.
  • Effective management of audits, quality assurance activities, and continuous improvement plans.
  • Safe and effective delivery of person-centered care across all service areas.
  • Successful growth and development of the Care at Home service, including service capacity and quality outcomes.
  • Monitoring and analysis of performance data to identify trends, address risks, and drive service improvements.
  • Maintaining accurate records and achieving key quality and operational performance targets.

Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance

  • Maintain full compliance with relevant legislation, including Care Inspectorate requirements and Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) standards where applicable.
  • Lead inspections and ensure the service is always inspection ready.
  • Lead the investigation and resolution of complaints, ensuring learning outcomes are identified and implemented.
  • Oversee audits, quality assurance processes, and continuous improvement plans.
  • Ensure accurate and compliant record keeping across all aspects of the service.

Staff Management & Workforce Planning

  • Lead recruitment, induction, and retention of care staff and nursing staff where applicable.
  • Ensure all staff are appropriately trained, supervised, and competent.
  • Manage staff rotas to ensure safe staffing levels and continuity of care.
  • Conduct supervision, appraisal, and performance management processes.
  • Promote staff wellbeing and safe working practices, including lone working.
  • Develop staff career pathways and succession planning initiatives.

Care Coordination & Service Delivery

  • Oversee the allocation of care staff to service users, ensuring appropriate matching of skills and needs.
  • Ensure effective communication between staff, service users, families, and external professionals.
  • Respond to changes in service user needs, incidents, and emergencies.
  • Maintain oversight of high-risk or complex care packages.

Safeguarding & Risk Management

  • Ensure all safeguarding concerns are identified, reported, and managed appropriately.
  • Oversee risk assessments and ensure safe systems of work are implemented.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety requirements, including infection prevention and control.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Develop and maintain relationships with service users, families, local authorities, NHS services, Social Work and other stakeholders.
  • Represent the organisation during inspections, reviews, and external meetings.
  • Ensure feedback is actively sought and used to improve services.

Financial & Operational Responsibility

  • Support budget management and ensure cost-effective service delivery.
  • Monitor service performance, occupancy, and staffing costs.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to support sustainable service growth.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with local authority commissioning teams, NHS partners and referral sources.
  • Support tender submissions and contract opportunities.
  • Increase care hours, service capacity and package volumes while maintaining quality standards.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in managing or supervising care services, preferably within Care at Home.
  • Strong knowledge of Care Inspectorate standards and Scottish care regulations.
  • Experience in staff management, leadership, and service delivery.
  • Experience using digital care planning and workforce management systems.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Hold, or be willing and eligible to achieve, the qualifications required for SSSC registration as a Manager of a Care at Home Service.

  • Either SVQ Level 4 in Care Services Leadership and Management (or willingness to work towards, if required for registration) or Registered Nurse with a valid Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) registration (preferred but not essential).
  • Evidence of continuous professional development.

Other Requirements

  • Must be eligible for registration with the SSSC as a Manager of a Care at Home Service within three months of appointment.
  • Flexibility to participate in the management on-call rota, providing leadership and operational support outside normal working hours as required
  • Ability to travel within the local area as required.
