Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council’s Work and Skills Team is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our Taf Delivery area of the Welsh Government funded Communities for Work + programme as Employability Senior Mentor.

This is a rewarding opportunity to lead a local employability team, to support individuals facing barriers to employment to achieve positive and sustainable outcomes.

About The Role

As an Employability Senior Mentor, you will lead and coordinate delivery of the Communities for Work+ programme within a designated locality, providing operational oversight and line management to Employment Mentors, Engagement Officers and Triage Officers. You will oversee the delivery of intensive one-to-one mentoring support to help individuals overcome barriers and progress towards employment, training and wider opportunities.

You Will Be Responsible For

• Leading and coordinating employability support delivery within a designated area
• Providing line management, supervision and support to Employment Mentors, Engagement Officers and Triage Officers
• Building strong partnerships with Jobcentre Plus, Housing Associations, Community Organisations and other key stakeholders
• Promoting the programme within local communities and generating referrals through effective partnership working
• Monitoring performance, maintaining accurate records and evidencing participant outcomes
• Supporting the implementation of local employability plans and contributing to the Council’s wider poverty reduction agenda

About You

You will have:

• Experience of providing leadership, supervision, coordination, or line management to individuals or teams working in a community setting
• A strong understanding of the barriers faced by long-term unemployed and economically inactive individuals, families and young people
• Experience of engaging hard-to-reach individuals with multiple and complex support needs
• Experience of developing action plans and delivering personalised support interventions
• Strong partnership-working skills and experience working collaboratively with statutory and voluntary sector organisations
• Excellent communication, organisational and motivational skills
• The ability to build positive, trusted relationships with participants, colleagues and partner organisations

This post is fixed term until 31st March 2027.
