GSL Education Hull branch are currently recruiting enthusiastic Cover Supervisors to work across secondary schools in York and the surrounding areas. Whether you are looking for flexible day-to-day work, longer-term placements, or a role that could lead to a permanent opportunity, we can help you find a position suited to your experience and availability.

As a Cover Supervisor, you will take responsibility for supervising classes and delivering pre-prepared work in the absence of the usual teacher. You will help maintain continuity of learning while ensuring students remain engaged, well behaved, and supported throughout the lesson.

Key Responsibilities as a Cover Supervisor:

* Supervise classes and deliver pre-set work, ensuring students understand and remain focused on the tasks provided.
* Maintain effective classroom management and respond confidently to behaviour issues in line with school procedures.
* Support students with their learning where appropriate, encouraging participation and positive attitudes towards education.
* Adapt your approach to support students with different abilities and learning needs.
* Complete accurate registers and provide clear feedback to teaching staff regarding lesson progress and any issues arising.
* Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment in accordance with safeguarding policies.

Cover Supervisor Minimum Requirements:

* Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational, youth work, mentoring, or similar setting is desirable.
* Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
* Excellent communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills.
* A calm, confident, and adaptable approach to working with secondary-aged students.
* A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
* An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
