We are looking for a kind, patient and reliable Personal Assistant to support a bright, gentle and shy 16-year-old autistic girl in building confidence, independence and enjoying activities in the local community.
The role is for 3 hours per week, usually as two 1.5-hour sessions, directly after school at approximately 3:15 pm. We are flexible, but sessions would normally take place on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
The role will involve accompanying the young girl to activities such as:
* Visiting the library or bookshops
* Going to cafés for hot chocolate or cake
* Browsing the shops
* Gentle walks and exploring local places
* Trips to activities such as trampolining or other interests that develop over time
The ideal PA will have experience of supporting young people with additional support needs, or have the patience, empathy and enthusiasm to build a trusting relationship. Our daughter enjoys calm environments and benefits from someone who is encouraging without being pushy. The focus is on helping her gain confidence, increase her independence and have fun doing activities she enjoys.
