Job summary
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic Emergency Medicine Doctor to work at the Bedford Hospital Site Emergency Department. You must be dedicated to providing high quality emergency care, maintaining clinical standards, and continually looking to drive positive change by developing the service. This is an exciting challenge for an Emergency Medicine Doctor who is keen to be at the heart of delivering a modern emergency medicine service across resus, majors, ambulatory majors, minor injuries, and paediatrics. Your job will include a combination of direct clinical care, clinical education and personal development activities designed to support your career progression alongside delivery of the department's service objectives. The senior clinical fellow role includes leadership responsibilities such as leading resus or trauma teams, leading on running areas of the department, EPIC role overnight, and supervision of resident colleagues in the department. Senior clinical fellows are expected to take a leading role with educational activities, clinical governance, audits, and quality improvement in the department. Main duties of the job

- Senior Clinical Fellows take a leading role in the initial diagnosis and management of all patients attending the department across the full range of cases that present to a UK DGH ED.
- Contribute to follow up of patients discharged home or admitted under the care of the Emergency Department which can include ward reviews and discharges, review of investigation reports and recall of patients for review.
- Take a leading role in adult and paediatric trauma and resuscitation teams and coordination of the Emergency Department treatment areas.
- Supervision and teaching of medical students and resident doctor colleagues during ED shifts and in planned teaching sessions.
- Maintain a high standard of clinical documentation, complete discharge summaries and coding for patients treated, and prepare statements and reports relating to clinical episodes as required.
- Contribute to clinical staffing of observation units or Extended Emergency Medicine Ambulatory care units as required by the service.
- Duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the consultant or specialist registrar. Such additional commitments arising would be exceptional and short-lived.
