Freelance Finance Accountant – 6-Month Contract

About the opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Finance Accountant to join an international food and beverage organisation on a 6-month freelance contract .

Based in Roeselare, Belgium , you will support the local finance function and contribute to the smooth running and continuous improvement of financial processes across multiple entities within an international group.

This is a hands-on role suited to an experienced accountant who is comfortable working independently, taking ownership of responsibilities and operating in a multinational environment.

Key responsibilities

As a Freelance Finance Accountant, you will:

• Process and record invoices for goods and services.
• Maintain accurate supplier administration and master data.
• Support monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities across several group entities.
• Prepare tax and other statutory declarations, including VAT, corporate income tax and Intrastat reporting.
• Support the annual audit process and provide information as required.
• Identify opportunities to improve and streamline financial processes.
• Support the implementation and optimisation of new finance systems and tools.
• Work closely with the local Finance Manager and wider international finance teams.

Your experience

We are looking for someone with:

• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
• At least 3 years of relevant accounting experience .
• Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to work.
• A hands-on, pragmatic mindset with the ability to work independently.
• Strong ownership and accountability for assigned tasks and projects.
• Fluency in Dutch and English , both written and spoken.
• French language skills are an advantage.
• Strong IT skills, including advanced Excel .
• Experience working with ERP systems; experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX, M3 or similar is an advantage.
