A specialist school in Sunderland is currently seeking a Learning Support Assistant to support pupils aged 4-19 with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and associated communication and sensory needs.
This school is committed to delivering individualised learning , with a strong focus on communication development and emotional wellbeing . Staff work collaboratively to create a structured and predictable environment , ensuring pupils feel safe, confident, and ready to engage in their learning.
The RoleAs a Learning Support Assistant, you will:
Support pupils during lessons, helping them to understand tasks and remain engaged
Encourage positive social interactions and communication
Assist pupils with emotional regulation throughout the school day
Support structured learning activities, transitions between lessons , and sensory breaks
Work with a range of communication approaches, including visual timetables, Makaton, PECS, and other structured systems

All pay rates quoted are inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay . This role is advertised as temporary, although there may be opportunities for a permanent position in the future.
