Our company is looking for a Staff Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Act as second engineer on offshore site investigations;
  • Highlighting areas for continuous improvement & driving their prioritisation;
  • Data entry into spread sheets and in-house programs (e.g. GeODin, GERRIT etc.);
  • Assign laboratory tests and manage laboratory test programmes;
  • Check input and/or calculations for analyses performed by others;
  • Being proactive in suggesting new tools, technologies and ways of working;
  • Championing Agile methodologies whilst creating amazingly useful systems in a collaborative way for our customers;
  • Assist the Chief Engineer in planning, executing and updating PMS-related activities;
  • Supervise safe and efficient execution of maintenance and repairs carried out by engine staff;
  • Will be a member of the Safety Committee or any other official shipboard body set up under the authority of the Master, if called upon to do so;
  • Monitor and report as required, (to the Chief Engineer) on the discipline, cleanliness and appearance of Engine Room personnel;
  • Maybe appointed as the Ship Security Officer if suitably trained;
  • Is fully responsible for the operation of the engine room and any maintenance of machinery on board when deputising for the Chief Engineer;
  • Inform the Chief Engineer accurately and promptly on all departmental activities and personnel issues;
  • Ensure correct and prompt execution of the Chief Engineer’s orders. Report the progress made to the Chief Engineer.

Requirements:

  • Master’s degree or Polytechnic degree of technical ship operations;
  • Ability to influence senior client business and IT executives on technology decisions;
  • Fluent English, oral and written. Any additional European language is considered an advantage (Italian, Portuguese, German, Spanish and French);
  • Excellent team management abilities;
  • Certificate of Competency IMO III/2 + passengers ship familiarisation;
  • A recognised medical certification is required before starting to work on board;
  • Excellent leadership skillsComfortable working under pressure and manage client expectations effectively;
  • Distinct customer focus and quality mindset;
  • Stress Tolerance;
  • Focus on quality and setting high standards;
  • Previous experience in both mechanical and electrical engineering as well as experience in international sanitation requirements;
  • Possess a valid passport and when possible a seaman book copy;
  • Problem solving;
  • Able to report and advise on technical architecture and select appropriate tooling and technologies for a project;
  • Consulting experience would be beneficial Support pre sales activities.
