Fitter Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Fitter to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Running and testing all tools to ensure they are in safe and good working order prior to hire;
- Instructs and supervises trainees where training needs have been identified and agreed;
- The assembly and sub assembly of mechanical, hydraulic & electrical components;
- Offsite customer support as required;
- Conduct product testing as per Power Jacks Ltd procedures;
- As required, carry out a schedule of planned and routine maintenance tasks in any area of factory or workshop. Plus, any ad-hoc maintenance tasks;
- Support painting section and operating other machinery as and when required;
- Prioritises work-load in accordance with schedule and or supervisory instruction;
- Carrying out PAT testing on electrical tools;
- Operate a vast range of hand and air operated power tools;
- Maintain and use all required PPE as & when required;
- Ensure health and safety standards are always met;
- Tagging all tools when run and tests are completed with associated paperwork;
- Maintain a clean working environment;
- Ensures work environment is kept clean/tidy and material/tools/gauges/consumables are correctly stored & accessible.
Requirements:
- A personable and flexible attitude towards our friendly and welcoming workplace;
- Completion of all test certificates and associated paperwork;
- Experience in working as a plant and tool fitter or in a similar working environment;
- The requisite organisation and initiative to manage own workload, combined with a practical and mature approach to problem solving;
- Great safety compliance and engagement;
- Have a relevant lifting qualification or equivalent knowledge;
- To diagnose faults and repair/ maintain a variety of Lifting Equipment including Chain Blocks, Genie Hoists and hydraulic engineering;
- Some mechanical/engineering experience essential, along with experience of working with tools;
- Full Valid UK Driving Licence;
- Check and tag all equipment and update service records;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to converse, get along, and establish relationships with people at all levels of the company;
- Ability to learn new skills, showing willingness and effort to do this;
- Keep workshop and vehicle (where provided) organised, clean and tidy and assist with general workshop duties as and when required;
- Positively receptive to change and taking on additional tasks in any area of assembly/production.
