Our company is looking for a Chief Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintains updated inventory for any spare parts, extra fuel and oil;
  • Is directly responsible for the operation of the engine room and any maintenance of machinery on board the vessel;
  • Determines the volume of oil, fuel, water and lube required for each cruise and ensures that substantial quantities of each is on board;
  • Ensures the disposal of sludge, bilge waters, oily waters and exhausted oils in accordance with national and international regulations;
  • Provide technical leadership and act as focal point for all technical queries;
  • Following hotel and corporate policies and guidelines, and the hotel’s business plan;
  • Accept and integrate supplier deliveries, maintaining multiple senior stakeholder relationships;
  • Works closely with their primary assistant for general daily operations in the engine room;
  • Ensures that all maintenance is completed efficiently and thoroughly.

Requirements:

  • Either a HND or degree with an Engineering focus;
  • Engineering degree preferably in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering;
  • Previous experience working within manufacturing – ideally food;
  • Strong project management skills with experience of Lean and continuous improvement;
  • Credible expert in his/her field with a strong track record of innovation;
  • Proven relevant experience with TPM, LEAN and manufacturing excellence tools;
  • Stress Tolerance;
  • Possess a valid passport and when possible a seaman book copy;
  • Problem solving;
  • Master’s degree or Polytechnic degree of technical ship operations;
  • Fluent English, oral and written. Any additional European language is considered an advantage (Italian, Portuguese, German, Spanish and French);
  • Excellent team management abilities;
  • Certificate of Competency IMO III/2 + passengers ship familiarisation;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • A recognised medical certification is required before starting to work on board.
