Semi Senior Accountant Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Semi Senior Accountant to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to client enquiries in line with the company policy;
- Offer bespoke accountancy, taxation and tax planning advice;
- Assisting with training and supervision of junior staff;
- Giving assistance with other day-to-day duties;
- Trial Balance;
- Preparing basic sets of accounts, corporation tax returns and VAT returns;
- Travelling to client premises as required and to deal with clients in a professional manner either in person, telephone or by email;
- Tax calculations;
- To be directly responsible for tasks as requested by partners or accounts manager;
- Preparing accounts for submission;
- Preparing individual and group statutory accounts under UK GAAP, including FRS102;
- Accounts preparation for a range of sole traders and limited companies;
- Preparation of VAT returns and associated bookkeeping;
- Preparing tax returns and dealing with client queries;
- Monthly management accounts and P & L services.
Requirements:
- Good working knowledge of one or more accounting software packages;
- Experience of completing VAT returns and dealing with payroll;
- Minimum 2 years practice experience;
- Work independently and as part of a team;
- Have at least 2 years’ experience working in a practice;
- Profound knowledge of accounting, financial and business principles and procedures;
- Minimum 3 years’ experience from practice;
- Strong auditing experience;
- Can demonstrate good communication skills;
- Ideally the successful candidate will be an all-rounder with both business/personal tax and accounting experience;
- SME client experience;
- Previous experience as a Semi-Senior Accountant within practice, ideally 3 – 5 years;
- Be able to use the following software/programmes daily: Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, Quickbooks, Xero;
- ACA / ACCA studying;
- Strong computation skills with close attention to detail.
