Main duties of the job
The position is for 5/6 sessions per week, the successful candidate will work as part of the practice clinical team to provide high-quality, safe and effective general medical services to our registered patient population.Key responsibilities will include:

• Providing comprehensive general medical services to patients, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment and ongoing management of acute and chronic conditions.
• Conducting face-to-face and telephone consultations, as appropriate, and managing patients in accordance with current clinical guidance and best practice.
• Managing patients with long-term conditions and supporting preventative healthcare and health promotion and prescribing safely and appropriately
• Maintaining accurate, contemporaneous and confidential patient records in accordance with professional and practice requirements.
• Working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team, including practice nurses, healthcare assistants, pharmacists, paramedics and administrative colleagues.
• Participating in clinical governance, significant event reviews, audit and quality improvement activity.
• Supporting the practice in meeting CQC, NHS and other statutory and contractual requirements.
• Contributing to the development and improvement of practice systems and services.
• Working within the policies, procedures and values of Grey Road Surgery, promoting a culture of respect, teamwork and patient-centred care.

About us
Grey Road Surgery is a well-established GP practice based within Breeze Hill Neighbourhood Health Centre in North Liverpool. We provide comprehensive General Medical Services to our local patient population and are part of the North Liverpool Primary Care Network.

We are a medium-sized, friendly and forward-thinking practice with a multidisciplinary clinical team. Our medical team currently includes three GP Partners, four Salaried GPs and three Specialist Clinical Practitioners, supported by our large nursing team, pharmacy and administrative teams.

As a training practice, we are committed to supporting the development of the next generation of GPs and healthcare professionals. We value teamwork, professional development and a collaborative approach to patient care.

Our wider clinical team includes practice nursing, nurse associate, prescribing and pharmacy expertise, enabling us to provide a broad range of services and support patients with both acute and long-term conditions.

We are committed to accessible, patient-centred care and use a range of consultation methods, including face-to-face, telephone and online consultations.

Job responsibilities
To work as an autonomous practitioner, responsible for the provision of medical services to the practice population, delivering an excellent standard of clinical care whilst complying with the GMS contract.

Furthermore, the post holder will adhere to the GMC standards for good medical practice, contributing to the effective management of the practice, leading by example, maintaining a positive, collaborative working relationship with the multidisciplinary team.

The following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

• a.The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
• b.The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract
• c.Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
• d.Effective management of long-term conditions
• e.Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
• f.On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles
• g.Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
• h.Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
• i.Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
• j.Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice
• k.Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF
• l.Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
• m.Contribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training
• n.Ensure compliance with the appraisal process
• o.Prepare and complete the revalidation process
• p.Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team
• q.Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines
• r.Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure
• s.Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies
• t.Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement

Secondary responsibilities
In addition to the primary responsibilities, the salaried GP may be requested to:

• a.Participate in practice audits as requested by the audit lead
• b.Participate in local initiatives to enhance service delivery and patient care
• c.Participate in the review of significant and near-miss events applying a structured approach i.e., root cause analysis (RCA)

Qualifications
Essential

• Qualified GP
• MRCGP
• Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP
• General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT)
• Full GMC registration
• National Performers List registration
• Appropriate defence indemnity (MPS/MDU)
• Eligibility to practice in the UK independently
• Experience of working in a primary care environment
• Experience of continued professional development
• Experience of QOF and clinical audit
• Experience of medicines management
• Experience of ICB initiatives
• General understanding of the GMS contract
• Outstanding level of clinical knowledge and skills commensurate with that of an experienced GP
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
• Strong IT skills
• Clear, polite telephone manner
• Competent in the use of Office and Outlook
• EMIS/Systmone/Vision user skills
• Effective time management (planning and organising)
