Our company is looking for a Highways Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out other duties identified in the Project Quality Plan on assigned projects;
  • Responsible for the preparation and maintenance of own discipline standard specifications;
  • Constantly promote the capabilities of the company to current and prospective clients;
  • Prepare technical documents and drawings for checking and approval;
  • Comply with IMS & BMS procedures;
  • Prepare technical designs in accordance with approved design procedures;
  • To assist with the preparation of reports for projects, to Clients and attend meetings regarding such;
  • To assist with the management and provision of technical support for staff dealing with all aspects of the service;
  • To assist in the design and delivery of multiple highway schemes;
  • Support Health and Safety, Environmental Management System, Quality Management System;
  • Assist in the development, implementation of processes and procedures that achieve client and business key performance indicators;
  • To design a range of traffic engineering / highways design schemes using existing best practice guidance and within the current legislative framework;
  • Any other duties reasonably requested by your line manager in connection with the business and its stakeholders and customers;
  • To provide timely and accurate advice to Councillors, Parish Councils and the general public on all highway-related matters as required;
  • To ensure strong budgetary control and financial management is undertaken throughout areas of responsibility.

Requirements:

  • Demonstrate knowledge and experience of the use of appropriate standards;
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to make correct judgements;
  • Experience in appropriate industry software;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to apply technical knowledge in analysing problems and creating solutions;
  • Desirable – Formal qualification in safety management;
  • Good IT skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Project as a minimum;
  • Experience of coordinating multiple projects within an urban and rural environment;
  • Written and verbal communication skills;
  • Full clean driving licence;
  • Substantial experience within Highways Sector gained within the design and/ or delivery of Integrated Transport projects or similar;
  • Chartered Engineer and member of a professional institution;
  • Experience of budgetary management at operational level, including reporting of works progress detailing cost, value and turnover;
  • HNC/HND Civil Engineering or equivalent preferable;
  • Ability to act as competent designer.
