Our company is looking for a Catering Assistant to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Temperature recording, both for deliveries and produced foods;
  • Assisting in setting up the service counters for lunch;
  • Clean kitchen equipment, utensils, surfaces, fridges, sinks, ovens, floors, walks and storage areas;
  • Serve food, including offering encouragement and guidance to assist students in making choices;
  • To be able to work well within a team and strong communication skills;
  • Prepare sandwiches, salads and jacket potatoes to order;
  • Provide a friendly and efficient service; dealing with any queries or suggestions;
  • Store and restock foodstuffs in order to maintain an adequate service;
  • Cleaning of food service trolleys;
  • Carry out basic food preparation, basic cooking and food assembly duties;
  • Work at other locations, as required, depending on the College’s operational needs;
  • Liaise with ward staff to ensure patients’ needs are met in a timely manner;
  • Serving food;
  • Prepare buffet lunches for internal meetings;
  • Preparing of Breakfast, lunch & dinner meals and refreshments and deliver direct to patients.

Requirements:

  • To hold an up to date level 2 food hygiene certificate;
  • Basic understanding of COSHH ‘Control of Substances Hazardous to Health;
  • Experience in customer / food service;
  • Willingness to attend training relevant to the post;
  • Effective communicator, able to build and maintain professional relationships with colleagues;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Able to adopt a common sense approach with attention to detail;
  • Good verbal communication skills;
  • Proactive and passionate about food and making a difference;
  • Current food hygiene certificate;
  • Able to work well under pressure;
  • Ability to work on own initiative whilst maintaining a positive team spirit at all times;
  • Ability to work on own initiative, and also to work effectively as part of a team;
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills;
  • Good accuracy and organisational skills.
