Daily Housekeeper/Assistant/Light Cook – Hampstead, North London

Salary: £48,000–£55,000 per annum, depending on experience

A welcoming private family based in Hampstead is looking for an experienced Housekeeper with light cooking and family administration skills to join their household on a long-term basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys variety and takes pride in creating a well-kept, comfortable and efficiently run home. The role is primarily focused on housekeeping, with additional light cooking, household administration and occasional childcare.

The family have recently moved to London and are looking for a reliable, personable individual who will become a trusted presence within the household. They have a lovely five-year-old daughter and a small, friendly dog.

You will also work closely with the family's PA, who is based overseas, assisting with practical administration such as coordinating appointments, organising meetings and keeping on top of day-to-day arrangements.

Working Hours

Monday to Friday, with the family open to either:

9.00am–5.00pm

9.00am–6.00pm

The successful candidate will take responsibility for the smooth day-to-day running of the home, ensuring everything is clean, organised and maintained to a high standard.

Your duties will include:

• Looking after the general housekeeping of the property
• Cleaning and maintaining all areas of the home
• Taking care of laundry, ironing and clothing
• Keeping bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens and living spaces immaculate
• Organising household tasks and maintaining domestic to-do lists
• Monitoring household products and arranging replenishment when necessary
• Helping ensure the property remains tidy, orderly and welcoming
• Running occasional errands and dealing with practical household matters
• Preparing simple, fresh and healthy meals
• Providing light administrative and PA assistance
• Communicating with contractors, suppliers and service providers when required
• There may also be occasional childcare for the family's five-year-old daughter. The mother will have primary responsibility for her, so this is not a full-time childcare position.

The household also has a small, friendly dog. Applicants should therefore be comfortable around dogs and happy to help with occasional dog-related tasks.

The family would particularly suit someone who is naturally organised, observant and proactive. They are looking for a person who doesn't need to be constantly directed and who will instinctively recognise what needs doing.

Ideally, you will have:

• A minimum of three years' experience in private household employment
• Previous experience working for families, preferably within London
• Excellent standards of housekeeping and organisation
• Experience around young children
• Competent computer and general administrative skills
• Outstanding attention to detail
• Excellent written and spoken English
• The confidence to deal courteously and professionally with household contacts and external suppliers
• The ability to work independently and use your own initiative
• A friendly, caring and approachable personality
• A discreet and trustworthy approach
• A flexible attitude and willingness to help wherever needed
• Confidence around dogs
• A genuine interest in finding a long-term position within a family home
