Our company is looking for a Building Surveyor / Inspector to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Recording inspection details on the data base and communicating comments to customers;
  • Provide advice to line Manager on technical areas so that team members are fully informed when dealing with potential clients;
  • Ongoing liaison with Developers / Clients / Builders, Architects offering technical advice and guidance;
  • Ensure inspections target a zero claims ratio;
  • Carry out Developer assessments at the completion of projects;
  • Ongoing liaison with Surveyors and Management on technical matters – to ensure that standards are being maintained and procedures adhered to;
  • Inspecting newly build properties and undertaking reports and desk top reviews to determine the defect and compliance technical standards;
  • Preparing schedules of works and scope of works using existing agreed rates;
  • Undertaking any other duties as reasonably required of a Building Surveyor/Engineer;
  • Contract Administration on larger remedial schemes and supervision of contractors on site;
  • Providing technical support and technical investigation/ analysis to internal departments relating to issues raised by Homeowners;
  • All aspects of building surveying including site inspections, defect diagnosis, report writing and remedial schedule writing.

Requirements:

  • The ability to meet deadlines and manage own workload within agreed parameters;
  • In depth technical knowledge of Building Regulations and other relevant construction standards;
  • Demonstrable ability to use own initiative and will be able to motivate self and influence others;
  • Full UK driving licence;
  • Relevant BC, plan check, site inspection and / or Warranty experience;
  • Ability to undertake site inspections to assess both quality and the cause/effect of building defects including structural defects;
  • Understanding of Building Regulations and associated legislation;
  • Requires basic understanding of general insurance principals and terminology desirable;
  • Part / Full member of professional. Minimum Grades accepted: TechRICS / ACIOB / CABE / LICWCI or similar;
  • Commercial awareness and ability to work as part of a team;
  • Post Qualification Experience;
  • Part / Full member of professional. Minimum Grades accepted: Building Surveyor, TechRICS / ACIOB / CABE / LICWCI or similar;
  • Full training provided on the insurance specific section of the role;
  • Good technical knowledge of Building Regulations and other relevant construction standards;
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.
