Caseworker Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Caseworker to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Drafting responses to constituents;
- Getting to know and understand local issues so that local knowledge is reflected in case handling;
- Gathering relevant information to assist with resolving cases;
- General office administration and support;
- Attending surgeries and other meetings as appropriate;
- Dealing with queries from members of the public;
- Retaining records and information confidentially and in line with the Data Protection Act;
- Acting as the first point of contact for constituents; taking phone calls and answering the office door;
- Monitoring progress of existing cases, ensuring all identified actions are taken and using a database to track each case;
- Acting for the client where necessary, calculating value of claims, negotiating, drafting letters and telephoning;
- Contacting referred clients to explore their situation and issues, and decide on their next steps;
- Taking responsibility for developing your knowledge within your specified area, and ensuring your knowledge is always up to date.
Requirements:
- Friendly, approachable and ability to work as part of a team;
- An understanding of the importance of confidentiality and discretion in your work;
- Ability to manage a busy workload and balance competing priorities effectively;
- Excellent written communication skills;
- An appreciation of the importance of attention to detail and a thorough approach to completing all tasks;
- Organisational, case management and time management skills.
