As a Practice Learning and Development Lead, you will provide expert leadership and support for educational leads, practice assessors, practice supervisors and clinical teams across the Trust. You will help ensure that learners receive high-quality placement experiences that are safe, supportive and aligned with national standards.You will:
The Leeds and York Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LYPFT) is the main provider of Mental Health and Learning Disability services in Leeds. We also provide specialist inpatient services in York and some highly specialised services across the country. As a teaching trust with strong links to local universities, we are a centre of excellence for teaching, research and development. Main duties of the job
As a Practice Learning and Development Lead, you will provide expert leadership and support for educational leads, practice assessors, practice supervisors and clinical teams across the Trust. You will help ensure that learners receive high-quality placement experiences that are safe, supportive and aligned with national standards.You will:
- Lead on the development and quality assurance of nursing placements across the Trust.
- Work collaboratively with universities and regional partners to enhance practice learning opportunities.
- Lead on the Supporting Student Supervision and Assessment (SSSA) standards.
- Develop innovative placement models and increase placement capacity.
- Deliver education, training and support to practice assessors, practice supervisors and educational leads.
- Lead quality monitoring activities to ensure excellent learner experiences and continuous improvement.
- Support the Trust Integration Program, as we harmonise to become Leeds Partnership NHS Foundation Trust from 1st April 2027
- Driving continuous improvement through quality assurance, evaluation and service development.
- Influencing educational strategy across the Trust and wider healthcare system.
- Strengthening partnerships with universities and regional education providers

- Registered Mental Health or Learning Disability Nurse & recognised Mentorship/Assessment qualification e.g. SLiP/998/PEAP
- Effective communication with internal / external stakeholders, influencing and persuasion skills, organisation, planning and delivery of complex activities, workload management, think organisationally and strategically.
- Experience of mentoring/supervising/assessing students Experience of effective multi-disciplinary working and established interpersonal and negotiation skills
