Project Engineer

Develop plans for surface transportation projects, according to established engineering standards and state or federal construction policy. Prepare designs, specifications, or estimates for transportation facilities. Plan modifications of existing streets, highways, or freeways to improve traffic flow.

Our company is looking for a Project Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking the handover of completed projects to the Service team;
  • Assisting the PM with the production of monthly project progress reports;
  • Compiling and completing project works/commissioning tasks in conjunction with designated subcontractors where necessary;
  • To review and take ownership of projects, and their associated documentation, handed over from the contracts department;
  • Sub-contractor management and extensive client liaison to ensure completion of a project to the agreed delivery schedule;
  • Effectively controlling all elements of project budgets from RFA stage, through FEED to multiple vendor quotations or RFQ’s;
  • Developing investment strategies and project deliverables in consultation with line managers and other senior management;
  • Perform and check engineering analyses;
  • To issue BOM and liaise with Procurement to ensure bought in parts arrive as required to meet the project deadlines;
  • Carry out technical assessment/approval of contractors work instructions/method statements/risk assessments;
  • Production of drawing packages;
  • Manage project documentation, timing plans, project logs, documents, issues listing, RFQ’s, BOM’s, costs etc;
  • Prepare & maintains QA Plans (Sharepoint) and project programmes (Microsoft Project);
  • To actively monitor and manage project progress;
  • Produce and/or approve project technical specifications.

  • Relevant Electrical or Mechanical qualifications;
  • Strong technical and practical ability;
  • Any additional language skills should be highlighted;
  • Deliver projects on time and within budget;
  • Project engineering experience;
  • Self-driven and able to work individually as well as part of team;
  • Ideally some practical experience in the field of scientific equipment or other technical equipment;
  • History using CAD packages (preferably Solid works) and previous experience within design;
  • Commercially aware and consider cost impacts on decisions and proposals;
  • Good organisation skills and ability to prioritise tasks;
  • Experience in material specifications.
