Technical Animator Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Technical Animator to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Resolving complex issues and helping other amimators resolve technical hurdles;
- Author and maintain scripts to improve animation content workflow;
- Understanding the requirements and constraints of game design, engine, and platforms;
- Assisting and guiding external developers and artists on best practices and workflows for creating optimized content;
- Rigging and animation of characters;
- Feeding back to programmers and working with them to improve systems where needed;
- Work with animation team on optimization and performance strategies;
- Participate in setting vision for content and tools and collaborate with engineers to develop cutting edge tools and technologies;
- Provide technical art and animation tool support for the animation team;
- Review / integrate animation solutions or help develop new ones;
- Be the communication conduit between programming and art disciplines;
- Build advanced rigs to handle character, creature and set piece animation;
- Analyse and troubleshoot all aspects of the animation pipeline;
- Advise the art team on technical issues as they arise;
- Collaborate and share knowledge on latest advancements with other technical experts within the company.
Requirements:
- Strong experience with rigging and skinning;
- Technical animation and rigging showreel;
- Able to collaborate and work well with teams from various disciplines;
- Technical Writing experience a plus;
- Ability to think out-of-the-box to overcome technical challenges;
- Experience working with Unreal Engine 4;
- Motivated, self-driven and enthusiasm to their craft;
- Problem-solve and provide a clear solution to complicated issues;
- Passionate about AAA games and game development;
- Strong balance of creative/visual aesthetics and technical skills;
- You’ve shipped a AAA title for desktop, console or mobile;
- Machine Learning;
- Experience baking destruction to animation;
- Experience with FACS;
- Experience working with motion capture suits.
