Group Accountant Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Group Accountant to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Provide accounting technical support to the business on proposed ventures and impact assessments of new financial reporting standards;
- Ensuring compliance with IFRS standards;
- Report on the company’s financial health and liquidity;
- Preparation of monthly management accounts for various entities within the Group;
- Develop and undertake internal audits of companies within the group to ensure compliance with group policies;
- Project accounting including financial analysis;
- Working with CFO, Group FC and FP&A manager with various ad-hoc improvement projects;
- Maintain statutory registers and tax authorities reporting requirements;
- WIP and stock accounting;
- Responsible for the production of the financial statements for the Group Annual Report and interim report;
- Responsible for managing the external audit;
- Involved with developing system infrastructure (consolidation of VIE, mapping of COA, BSR reconciliations, group consolidation);
- Provide additional general support and complete ad-hoc tasks as required by Group and UK Finance teams;
- Communicate effectively with the Group Controller, CFO and other team members to enable timely integration of acquisitions and strong group controls;
- Prepare cash-flow forecasts to ensure cash is managed efficient and effectively and manage working capital.
Requirements:
- Technical knowledge of specific IBM Products – Cognos Controller (desirable);
- Hands-on experience with accounting software like FreshBooks and QuickBooks;
- Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables;
- Professional qualification (ACA/ACCA);
- Experience with external audit and liaising with external auditors;
- Qualified / newly qualified accountant ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent;
- Previous experience of working in a large accounting firm/professional services environment is desirable;
- Manage the corporation tax compliance process for relevant companies;
- A quick learner with high expectations and personal standards – with a passion to get things right and able to work to tight deadlines;
- IT literate with systems experience and good excel skills;
- Support group treasury requirements;
- Statutory reporting experience;
- Good technical reporting skills;
- Develop and undertake internal audits of companies within the group to ensure compliance with group policies;
- Maintain statutory registers and tax authorities reporting requirements.
