Production Engineering Manager

Production Engineering Manager manages the planning and designing of methods to improve or enhance existing programs. Oversees the analysis and review of budgets, schedules, production requirements and headcount to determine the most cost effective and efficient methods of obtaining necessary resources. Being a Production Engineering Manager develops and recommends revisions or enhancements to schedules, human and monetary resource allocations, and production requirements. Ensures projects are completed on time. Additionally, Production Engineering Manager acts as advisor to production engineering team regarding projects, tasks, and operations. Responsibilities:

  • Review, develop and propose improvements through increased effectiveness, efficiency and added value. Reducing waste. Eliminating unplanned downtime;
  • Develop, propose and agree functional budgets with Line Manager;
  • Manage, control and develop employees (absence, performance, management, grievances, health & safety).

Requirements:

  • Financial knowledge covering budgeting forecasting;
  • Excellent Health, Safety and Environmental awareness with an understanding of Risk Assessments and legislation;
  • Experience of implementing continuous improvement programmes and projects;
  • H&S qualifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH;
  • Good written, verbal, communication and organisational skills;
  • Experience of managing a team, particularly in a production/process facility;
  • IT literacy (MS, word, excel etc;);
  • Knowledge of ERP systems (AX preferred);
  • Excellent organisational skills, including planning of labour and processes. An understanding of MRP systems will be useful;
  • The ability to quickly learn technical terminology and processes;
  • Experience lean (Six Sigma) implementation of lean manufacturing systems. (desirable);
  • Minimum 2 years hands on management experience within a manufacturing environment;
  • IT skills (email, all MS Office software including Project and PowerPoint);
  • Ability to listen to and influence peer group and department team members to build and lead effective working teams.
