Our company is looking for a Technical Support to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Biohazard waste sterilization and disposal, preparing media for use in scientific laboratories;
- Point of contact and liaison with STFC estates / work / faults for RCaH;
- Cleaning of equipment (e.g. water baths and incubators) to maintain high levels of operational cleanliness;
- Help with weekly liquid nitrogen fills of two laboratory instruments;
- Liaise with the deliveries team and stores at Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (RAL);
- Organising the laboratory coat collection for laundry and the distribution of clean laboratory coats;
- Keep up to date the electronic archive of all “Good laboratory Practice” sheets signed by all new RCaH users;
- Provide support with a wide range of minor non-science facilities issues;
- Assist 2nd line support engineers with tickets they cannot resolve, escalating where need be;
- Be responsible for dealing with 3nd line support issues and escalations that come into the helpdesk via remote support or the telephone;
- Support internal staff with IT issues;
- Provide cover for the telephones should all first and second line staff be on other calls.
Requirements:
- Experience in Cloud technologies;
- Ability to work with an Agile Team, being able to be self-driven and looking for continuous improvements to both the process and the systems;
- Working knowledge of digital delivery processes and methodologies;
- Ideally a degree in a computing related field (although this is not essential);
- Knowledge of MS Windows Server 2012 to 2016. Any experience with Linux is advantageous;
- Previous technical support background;
- Working knowledge of Firewalls, DNS and TCP/IP networking;
- Experience of Software Delivery, Mobility, Citrix, SharePoint, Exchange Server, Office 365, Printing, Desktop;
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment;
- Experience in Microsoft Office suite – especially Outlook.
