Mig/Tig welder

The Mig/Tig Welder I interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams or schematics to determine appropriate welding process. Joins, fabricates, and repairs metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques and operating various welding devices. Being a Mig/Tig Welder I is familiar with and complies with all safety requirements and protocols for working in a hazardous environment. Inspects completed welds to determine structural soundness. In addition, Mig/Tig Welder I may be required to complete an apprenticeship and/or formal training in area of specialty. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. Being a Mig/Tig Welder I gains or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Works under moderate supervision. Working as a Mig/Tig Welder I typically requires 1-3 years of related experience or may have 0 years of experience plus an associates degree, or additional training, or certification.

  • Carry out MIG & TIG welding to a high standard on heavy and medium grade aluminium;
  • MIG/TIG welding;
  • Fabricate the material using cutting tools, grinding tools etc;
  • Working from engineering drawings to fabricate and weld;
  • operation of various machines to produce parts;
  • Sheet Metal Fabrication background;
  • setting up weld fixtures;
  • MIG welding (coded to BS EN 287 or equivalent) in various materials;
  • TIG welding (coded to BS EN 287 or equivalent) in various materials;
  • metal finishing;
  • assembly;
  • Sheet Metal Fabrication;
  • working with sheet metal, plate and sections;
  • fabrication (tackling).

Requirements:

  • Able to use plasma cutting tools, grinders and read engineering drawings;
  • Fabricating experience;
  • A good team player and a “can do” attitude;
  • Excellent MIG & TIG welding skills on Aluminium steel;
  • You must be an apprentice trained, time served Welder and be able to work to a high standard in MIG / TIG;
  • The ability to read from drawings is essential.
