Head of PMO Job Description Template
Our company is looking for a Head of PMO to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Be accountable for the line management and functional management (including development planning) of the PMO resources;
- Work with Finance to ensure Project Controls are fully aligned with Finance, working off one set of source data;
- Ensure strong adherence to Project Risk and Opportunity Management requirements;
- Ensure compliance with Thales processes and governance;
- Recruitment – assist Studios with Project Management hires where needed;
- Provide accurate status reports of the projects;
- overseeing the processing of grant requests and providing monitoring and evaluation reports to various programme boards;
- Project Kick off – ensuring pitching metrics are owned and adopted by the team with full understanding of contractual obligations;
- development of the Programme Governance Framework;
- Audit Project Progress using the Development Process and maintain a list of outstanding actions;
- Manage the PMO team and provide performance feedback and goal-setting, conducting annual performance assessments and skills development and training;
- Change Management – highlighting change and ensuring a gated process for change;
- Create and Develop the Sumo Digital Development Process;
- Postmortems – managing project postmortems and making recommendations;
- controller of the PMS.
Requirements:
- High level of PC literacy with Microsoft products, in particular excellent Microsoft Excel / Project / PowerPoint skills;
- Experience working in a technical/engineering/manufacturing environment;
- Proven understanding with regard to project governance, risk, and planning (Primavera);
- Strong negotiation and influencing skills;
- Effective communication skills to all levels of the business;
- Proven track record in PMO management on large and complex projects;
- Experience in a range of delivery lifecycles – waterfall, iterative, Agile, Hybrid etc;
- A thorough understanding of bid and project management lifecycle and governance;
- You’ve been serving overseas with HM Forces or in some other official capacity as a representative of HM Government;
- PMO;
- A thorough understanding of bid and project management life cycle and governance;
- You were studying abroad;
- You were living overseas with parents;
- Experience in a range of delivery life cycles – waterfall, iterative, Agile, Hybrid etc;
- Qualifications or certification in Project Management (eg IPMA, APM).
