Our company is looking for a Domestic Assistant to join our team.

Responsibilities:

  • General cleaning as directed, removing waste appropriately and replenishing supplies where necessary;
  • To have due regard to the privacy of service users when carrying out daily work routines;
  • To carry out all duties in a safe manner having regard to the Health and Safety of self, colleagues, service users and visitors to the Home;
  • To work in accordance with COSHH, Health and Safety and Local Authority regulations;
  • To carry out other duties as well, from time to time as directed;
  • Report to the Housekeeping Coordinator any repairs, obstructions and unusual incidents, including near misses;
  • Clean internal glass partitions, mirrors, picture frames, doors and walls (to hand height only);
  • Replenish toilet, soap, paper towel and toilet roll dispensers;
  • To report hazards and repair requirements;
  • To maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene within the Home;
  • Assisting in the laundry where necessary;
  • Reporting any compliments, comments and/or complaints;
  • Doing the laundry for the residents as and when required;
  • working in designated areas as prescribed on a rotating basis and as instructed by the Home or Regional Manager;
  • Report to the line manager faults, equipment malfunctions and/or issues hindering the usual cleaning routines.

Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills;
  • Ability to work as part of a team and individually;
  • Caring nature;
  • To be able to communicate with people at all levels;
  • To have basic literacy and numeracy;
  • To be willing to work flexibly in accordance with the needs of the service;
  • To have previous experience of working in a commercial laundry would be advantageous;
  • Knowledge of COSHH implications for materials/supplies and infection control principles (including hazard compliance) would be advantageous;
  • To have previous experience of cleaning work (to have experience of cleaning in a commercial environment would be advantageous).
